Eloise Le Santo is a barrister with a distinctive blend of legal and clinical experience, uniquely positioning her to navigate the complexities of healthcare law. Specialising in regulatory compliance and fitness-to-practise proceedings, she provides insightful advocacy and advice for healthcare professionals and organisations.
Eloise began her legal career at Matrix Chambers, developing a broad practice across public, human rights, and information law. During this time, she represented clients in a wide range of tribunals, including the Coroner’s Court, Mental Health Tribunal, and Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal. Her work often involved sensitive handling of vulnerable individuals and rigorous, evidence-based analysis.
Her passion for healthcare led her to pursue further academic study in health and social care, gaining expertise in integrated care models, quality improvement, and change management. This academic foundation ultimately led her to qualify as a HCPC registered physiotherapist, during which she gained hands-on experience across diverse NHS settings, including acute care, outpatient musculoskeletal therapy, and COVID-19 ICU wards at the height of the pandemic. This first-hand exposure to the realities of healthcare delivery gives her a profound understanding of the operational and ethical challenges faced by clinicians and healthcare providers, informing her work as an advocate.
Currently, Eloise serves as an in-house lawyer for the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA), advising on the regulation of assisted reproduction and embryo research. This role reinforces her dedication to promoting fairness, accountability, and excellence in healthcare regulation, ensuring that policies and practices uphold the highest standards for patients, practitioners, and the public.
Combining over a decade of experience in law and healthcare, Eloise is dedicated to providing robust representation and strategic counsel to healthcare professionals and organisations. She is passionate about fostering a fair and effective healthcare system, informed by her unique dual perspective.
